Avalanche Safety Workshop
The Avalanche Safety Workshop is an intensive, field-based training for ski tourers who want to better understand snow terrain and develop more informed decision-making in the mountains. Under the guidance of experienced IFMGA mountain guides, participants explore the key elements of avalanche awareness - from reading the snowpack and terrain to recognising risk patterns and responding effectively when things go wrong.
The workshop is structured around real terrain and real scenarios. Most of the time is spent outdoors, where participants practise transceiver searching, precise probing, efficient shovelling, and rescue-organisation drills within realistic time constraints. The focus is not on memorising procedures, but on understanding how risk changes, how decisions are made, and how a group moves and communicates in complex conditions.
Rather than offering simplified rules or guarantees, the workshop emphasises judgement, responsibility, and adaptation. Avalanche risk cannot be eliminated; it can only be recognised, managed, and respected. This workshop provides the tools and experience needed to engage with that reality more consciously.
Guided ski touring tours and workshops are led by OutVentureX guides licensed by IFMGA, with a clear focus on responsible guiding, sound decision-making, and clear communication in real mountain environments. For information about workshops and guided tours: book@outventure-x.com
